Smith & Sons is a family owned and operated business. Over 50 years ago, the company began as "Chantilly Farmers Supply," a store located in Chantilly, Virginia, where the Capital Expo Center now sits. Selling everything from feed and seed to home appliances in the 1940s, the company expanded to Warrenton in 1964 and focused its efforts on the sale and service of farm, lawn and garden equipment. In 1987, the Chantilly store closed, and the entire business moved to Warrenton. In 2001, the company expanded again, adding a location in Marshall, Virginia.

Today, Smith Equipment Corporation is known throughout Northern Virginia for giving personalized attention to homeowners, farmers, building contractors and commercial landscapers who seek the finest in new and used equipment, parts and service. The company encourages its customers to research the equipment; they know from experience that the brands they sell are the best in the industry.

Smith Equipment Corporation attributes its success to faithful, hardworking employees who truly know the business. "I've always been a farm boy," said H. Douglas Smith, who was born on a farm near Remington, "This is what I know; it's what I like." All of Smith's grandchildren have worked in the business, and a fifth generation has begun.
